What Does a Bushfire Hazard Practitioner Do?

Our Bushfire Hazard Practitioner is accredited by the Chief Officer of the Tasmania Fire Service to prepare and certify bushfire hazard management plans.

As part of a Bushfire Assessment, our Bushfire Hazard Practitioner will:

Inspect the site and determine the Bushfire Attack Level (BAL);
Determine suitable bushfire protection measures;
Prepare a bushfire hazard report; and
Prepare a bushfire hazard management plan (BHMP).

Depending on whether your development is at the planning permit or building permit stage, they will also provide:

A Planning Certificate - certification that a BHMP complies with the planning requirements of the Bushfire-Prone Areas Code (or that the development is exempt due to insufficient increase in risk); or
A Form 55 Certificate of Specialist - certification under the Building Act that a BHMP complies with the Director's Determination - Requirements for Building in Bushfire-Prone Areas (or that the development is exempt due to insufficient increase in risk).
